Tawab

Akinkunmi Tawab Jabar, known as Tawab grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, lived in the UK for a while, and is curreently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tawab's music is deeply influenced by his personal convictions, thoughts, feelings, and experiences, as well as his cultural environment. On his collaborative EP "Better Late Than Never" with producer, Lens, he introduces us to his story, expressing his struggles whilst taking us on a beautiful sonic ride. On the first track 'Thank You', Tawab retrospects on the inception of his manic episodes and shows appreciation to his supportive friends. 'Psychosis' and 'Things' are songs telling us tales of his manic experiences; they blend a unique drift of storytelling with soothing rhythmic cadences and live instruments. 'Away' is a groovy song with a spiritual feel, it's Tawab's way of romanticizing his pain. This project is a timeless piece of art with a distinct sonic experience. Tawab's goal is to fully express himself through music and hopes to connect with his listeners.
