About Shutdown Shipyard
Setting sail in 2018, Shutdown Shipyard began practicing in the barrel room of a small brewery after hours. They have just completed their latest album, “Apophenia”, which has been nearly a year long journey. The band’s music scores their lives in retrospect. From song to song, the listener is set on a voyage shrouded in ominous, wobbly soundscapes, catchy riffs and lyrics dwelling on the past. Floating between explosive, high-energy moments and haunting, stripped-back passages, that pulls you in and refuses to let go. They believe to have dropped anchor somewhere in post-rock, shoegaze, prog, alternative and metal. Shutdown Shipyard, nearly haulting everything during covid, came back stronger and continued writing songs, recording, and learning from previous releases. They finally found themselves in a position to start playing live around the Atlanta area, in addition to helping organize Reverb Fest, and ATL Fest. ALT Fest is the brainchild of Mark Parker from Shutdown Shipyard, and Eddie Kosakoski and Jeremy Brown from Cult Potential. They even brewed a beer with Pontoon Brewing for the event called ALT AF. Reverb Fest was a concept by Mark who formed the Atlanta Reverb Collective, or ARC, a collabortive group of bands to share resources and play shows together in effort to bring the shoegaze/dreampop/post-rock genres to the forefront of Atlanta’s scene. The current ARC bands include; Loraine, Slo Moon, The Deepest Shade, and Shutdown Shipyard.
