Ahead of its release comes “Imagine Mary,” a powerhouse anthemic blend of folk and garage rock and pop.
With her second EP released this year, Nottingham based Alt-Rock songwriter Sasha Assad’s hard work in the studio has resulted in another catchy, raw and heartbreaking four track effort in ‘Casablanker’.
Assad had a very cool stage presence which came out between the songs, where she communicated with the band mates and got straight down to business each time. It was particularly fun to watch the communication between Assad and the band, especially between her and the bassist in ‘Second Nature’, as they were both clearly really enjoying themselves.
Sasha Assad looks at the travails of living in England’s capital on La La London – the high rent, poor housing, and expensive transport. The lyrics are deceptively biting, the melody is alt/indie-pop at its most upbeat, and the vocals have an almost-romantic quality that makes the track come across as a love (/hate) song.
Sasha Assad’s Baby I’m Gay! is a gloriously defiant queer anthem bursting with alt-pop bite and unfiltered charm.
