"Skin" truly poured out of a place of raw, visceral fear. There are moments in life when you feel so exposed, like your very skin is too thin to hold everything in. This song is about that profound vulnerability, the kind where you're confronting truths, or rather, the lies you've been told or even told yourself. It started as a whisper of a feeling, a deep internal tremor that I knew I had to capture. It felt like walking a tightrope between complete emotional collapse and a desperate need to stand my ground, a painful introspection that eventually demanded to be heard.
The creation of "Skin" was incredibly cathartic, almost like an exorcism. I wanted the music to mirror that journey – starting with a melancholic introspection, a simmering tension, and then erupting into this powerful, almost defiant scream. Every guitar riff, every vocal layer, was carefully placed to build that dynamic intensity, to feel like a punch to the gut, but also a release. It’s about facing those fractured trusts head-on, even when it’s terrifying, and finding a strange strength in the act of confrontation itself. Like some of my other more introspective pieces, it delves deep, but "Skin" ultimately channels that pain into a raw, undeniable power. It's my way of saying, "I'm scared, but I'm here, and I won't be fooled."
