Bio
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Bamberg, Germany as a military brat, Mik grew up with one foot in American culture and another in Europe. That experience gave him a perspective that would eventually show up in his music. By the time he was 16, Mik was already taking the music seriously. Working under the name The Pairamount, he teamed up with Dre Solo on a mixtape that sold out in Bamberg. He was also developing a reputation as a battle-tested MC, performing throughout Germany and opening shows for different acts along the way. At 21, in 2010, Mik recorded The Coolest Album with the late DJ Smoove. Smoove had his own place in German hip-hop history as the home producer of heavyweight Kool Savas, and the collaboration gave Mik the opportunity to work with someone deeply connected to the country's rap scene. The Coolest Album wouldn't be released until 2020. In 2018, Mik released 1988, bringing together producers Kaspa Hauser, DJ Smoove, Fabs, and Glassc!ty. The album showed where Mik's priorities were by that point: strong production, thoughtful writing, and a rapper who wasn't afraid to let the lyrics carry the record. Now living in Panama City Beach, Florida, Mik is looking toward his next release. The entire album is being produced by Kaspa Hauser, aka Blu Owl, giving the project the consistency of a true MC-producer collaboration. The sound leans into jazz and hip-hop sound with features from Blu, Violent Greens, Derran Day, Logan Justine, and Geno Luc. The forthcoming project will be released through Rivamare Records, a label based in Milan, Italy. It's another international connection in a career that's been defined by them from the beginning. Texas. Germany. Florida. Italy. Different places, different chapters, but hip-hop has remained the common thread.
