Mark Cupidore

Conscious reggae from Sangre Grande, Trinidad and Tobago — shaped into a self-styled sound called Reggae Street Chant, where rapso, reggae and street chant meet. Mark Cupidore, known onstage as Cupid, is a Trinidad and Tobago reggae artist, songwriter and producer creating spiritually and culturally grounded music from Sangre Grande. His distinctive Reggae Street Chant approach blends the cadence and social consciousness of rapso with roots reggae and the immediacy of street chant. In 2009, Cupid co-founded Zion Connection Productions with Ruben Eyes and Empress IZ to support young people in his community. The company also serves as the label for his independent releases. His work includes a sustained collaboration with drummer and beatmaker Asha D of Artikal Music, whose releases are distributed by Baco Records. Across albums and EPs, Cupid's writing remains centered on reflection, resilience, community and lived experience.
