KINNARA

Kinnara is the USA/Chile-based metal collaboration between Massachusetts vocalist and lyricist Olivia Berka and Chilean guitarist, bassist, drummer, and producer Felipe Roa. Roa brings decades of experience from the Massachusetts metal scene, having performed with Shadows Fall, Acaro, Angor, ROA, Let Us Prey, Target, and Death Rattle, in addition to contributing guest guitar work to numerous extreme metal projects. Berka has been an active force in the New England progressive and extreme metal scenes, beginning with the all-female alternative band Fortress before performing with progressive metal acts Counterparts and Polaris, and later lending her distinctive and powerful voice to projects including Infinite Descent, Misery Divine, Aetherius, and Sauriel. Kinnara’s music combines heavy guitar-driven arrangements paired with Berka’s duality of melodic vocals with her heavy, more extreme vocal style. Their songs move between moments of intensity to quieter, more reflective passages, creating a dark yet melodic sound. Drawing from the broader traditions of metal while maintaining their own approach to songwriting, Kinnara focuses on atmosphere, emotion, and melody. Their 3 song demo including 2 original songs and one reimagined cover song was released on August 2, 2026 and is available on all streaming platforms, in anticipation for their full length studio album that is currently in production.
