From pinching pennies to selling out amphitheaters, there truly has not been a more qualified artist to call the face of modern singers. On April 13th, 2001, in Modesto, California, Serenity Nicole Destiny, also known as Destin, would be born. Destin grew up relatively poor, having to help with bills at 14. Even so, in an interview with Peoples Magazine she can recall the good times and states that “the best part of those days was coming home from work and listening to music in the free time that she had.” She would listen to artists like Rihanna and Alessia Cara. By 2017 Destin was able to save money to make what was arguably the biggest step in her career. Destin took a 5-hour ride from Modesto to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams as an entertainer. She immediately started auditioning for labels. Destin would also release her first single titled “HOME” on SoundCloud. This single would quickly gain traction on the internet, further expanding her audience. Within days Destin was signed under Warner Records but would disappear for over a year after. Just as people were starting to forget her, she would drop her first studio album called “[0728].” “Nothing excites me more than making music for people, so I was sad when I had to take that step back for my own health and I’m so happy to be back” Destin says in an interview with iHeartRadio. Destin has become a notable name in the industry from pure dedication and luck showing aspiring musicians that they too can succeed no matter their background.
